Impact

2025 has been one of the most consequential years for journalism in recent memory — and The Intercept has been right in the middle of it. We chase the stories that make the powerful uncomfortable, follow the truth wherever it leads, and do it all because readers like you make it possible. Despite ongoing assaults on press freedom, we’re not backing down.

As the second Trump administration began to flood the zone, The Intercept was on the front lines. We broke key stories on the so-called Department of Government Efficiency, exposed ICE’s use of Nvidia software for immigration surveillance, and derailed a proposed bill that would have given Marco Rubio the power to revoke U.S. passports based on speech. We also documented the crackdown on campus dissent — and our reporting helped pressure NYU to reverse course on demanding students sign away their right to protest. We employed Palestinian reporters on the ground in Gaza, delivering accurate firsthand accounts of what’s actually happening in the war. Through our podcast, The Intercept Briefing, we amplified critical voices — from members of Congress to journalists and authors — covering everything from housing precarity to the protests in Iran.

Thank you for standing with The Intercept, and for joining us in the fight for justice. You can read the rest of the 2025 Impact Report below.
